Then they said to Him" Give us this bread always" And Jesus said to them," I am the bread of life. He who comes to me shall never hunger and he who believes in me shall never thirst.John 6:34,35
Being that my ex-wife was from Jamaica it became a common occurrence for her sister to come visit. One of the first places she would want to stop was Walmart. I would watch her gently pick up every item. The excursion would take hours as she went down every isle. We got to the point were we would drop her off and then come back hours later.
As I would watch her shop she would analyze every purchase. She always spent more than she had. But third world countries don't have these luxuries. Simple things like liquid soap and shampoo were treasured items back home.
Her big heart would pour over her well prepared list making sure no one was left out. On one occasion she spent all she had and was willing to fly back home with her and her son and five dollars in her pocket.
This hunger for affluence was new to me. Packing drums filled with you name it as we sent her on her way became something I expected.
As Christians, we are called to have a spiritual hunger. It is more important than physical hunger. We are to be completely satisfied in Christ.
So what do we gain to attain this hunger? What is in it for us to have a thirst for Christ? When you have been touched by Father then His voice becomes the words you long to hear. His breath becomes the wind that moves your boat.
Deny those moments and you miss the very presence of the Holy Spirit pressing on your heart. Embrace those moments and you experience the very hand of God calling you forward.
Seek His ways. Desire only Christ and receive His rewards.Become Gods instrument that the world will not miss. Be bold in your conviction and strong in your commitment to follow Christ and you will hunger no more.
I hunger for Your touch. I thirst for only You.
I'm working on surrender. Do Lord what You must do.
Eliminate desire, then let me feel Your touch.
The simple flat out reason Lord
is I love You oh so much.
I will shout it from the roof tops.
I will humbly bow my knee.
You are my own true love song.
The breath of my decree.
