shalt let it rest and lie still Ex 23:11 Ever notice how some people can't be still? Like a five year old with ants in their pants they can't sit quiet. The rush of their world is an adrenline drug. The whoosh of their day takes them to some far off island. Is it that they are afraid of the person they will meet in the quiet? Henry Noruen called solitude... the furnace of transformation. God comes in the quiet and makes His changes. Like the junk drawer that needs to be cleaned so too we must run to the Father to be gently, specifically re-arranged. This is where God brings order out of chaos. It is here we hear the still small whisper. Let's face it, I would much rather God come to me in my quiet moments than to have Him loudly proclaiming His directives in my burning ears. Surrender comes painted in the colors of solitude. This is where broken pieces of our self will lay crumpled on the closet floor. All because we made the contentious effort to seek the Father and follow the Son. Give solitude a strong hand shake and then step back and let God work. Father, it is my strong desire that You bring order out of chaos. Bring the hammer and the chisel and carve out my dross. I promise I will make the time to silently be still. To listen to Your leading and follow just Your will. |
