I'll Always Have Your Hand

his brethren came to comfort him. 1st Chr 7:22

A friend of mine was going through some tough times. Her boyfriend had betrayed her and she was all messed up. She was troubled, disturbed and weak. I tried as best I could to comfort her.
Her reaction being that she was without Christ was a common mistake that many have made before her, She ran to the world and sought her comfort in many.

Often she would call me to join her in her Friday night hunt. But my reaction was always the same. As a single guy I am sure she wondered about me. But my message was clear " Not tonight, I have some serious Bible study waiting for me."As a non-Christian I knew that she couldn't relate but I still wanted to plant the seeds.

Many weekend nights I would get a late night call as she would be feeling more empty and lonely than before. As much as I was there for her I knew she needed the Lord. So while she was out I prayed.

I gave her a book that comforted me in times past. I t was scriptures broken down into categories such as fear, loneliness, doubt. Slowly, gently I began to see her change. She came with questions about Christ and the Holy Spirit guided her into truth.

If we are to be a comforter we have to look around. We have to get our head off the pillow and look for others that are hurting and need our time, and our love. When we put our selfish thoughts away and ask Christ to reveal just one that needs Him He will. But first we must have a heart that is ready, willing and able to serve.

There are times I know
when you don't understand me.
Times,
when I wake you up
in the middle of the night
just to talk.

Theses are times
that I need a hug
that only a friend
can give.

Please don't ask me
to explain these times.
Just tell me
that I will
always have your hand
to wipe away my tears.
