One True Friend

Go unto his friend to refresh Acts 27:3

Have you ever had to say goodbye to a good friend? I have and it was hard. This was a friend that had seen the good, the bad and the ugly of me and is still faithful to the end.I met her when she was 17 and a secretary at my office. That was 19 years ago.

Over the years I have had the privilege of leading her to Christ. Flying to the Bahama's and being at her wedding and spending hours on the phone counseling and being counselled.

She is the type of friend that has always shown interest in what ever I do. She has loved me through the lows in my life and always had a sympathetic ear. We have both been on the other end of constructive criticism with our friendship still in tact.

But above all else she has always been faithful. When we were building our house it was Wendi and Marvin standing in the rain on a cold April morning clearing our land. When it came time to paint, her smiling face was on the other end of the paint brush. When we were laying tile her hands were muddy.

Her willing heart was available in time of need. She always stood at my side committed to my needs. She has become a shining example of an everlasting, incomparable faithfulness that can only come from Christ. Even though God led her to another state she will be that one true friend that I always cherish.

Our emotions have been constant
as we walked this road together.
My burdens have been lifted
as you made them like a feather.

Our Father has been honored
as you emptied out your heart.
Running to the cross
to get that fresh start.

Our God has gone before us.
So I know you understand.
Goodbye's are not forever
as I'll never let go of your hand.
