Is God Pricking Your Heart

Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. Luke 8: 14

These days are you finding it a challenge not to worry? With gas prices at their all time high. With foreclosures falling in every neighborhood they seem to be as common as the cold. Look in any window and you see divorce stacked upon divorce. Couples you would have bet the house would never get divorced are now becoming another statistic.

Doom and gloom can easily become a part of our thoughts, attitudes and actions if we are not careful. It is blatantly clear that worry will choke the word, glut the soul and obstruct the gospel. It also hinders Christs work and manifests unbelief.

One of our defenses is to not be overly concerned about earthly things. We can fight the fight by claiming God's protection, believing completely in His provisions and clinging to the promises that are laced throughout scripture.

God can use these times to prick your heart and challenge your faith. Worry evokes either an intensity of doubt or a greater opportunity to believe. It either strengthens our grip or tears us kicking and screaming from the cross. I am up for the challenge and I pray you are too.

Father,
when I think of the times we live in
it is easy to be afraid.
My heart gets caught in the struggle
and I forget the plans You have made.

So I will choose to believe
in everything You have said.
I am leaning on the promises
and not forgetting what You did.
