Steps To The Cross

A true witness delivereth souls. Proverbs14:25 As I travel backwards in my mind and look at my steps to the cross I see footprints left by one man in particular. As a young twenty year old starting in insurance I thought you had to be ruthlessly selfish to make it. Certainly work had to be number one in your life. So when my manager was getting the District of the year award and stated his priorities I was shocked. When I heard his priorities in life I remember saying to myself "This guy is all screwed up and I better find a new manager. " Joe was bold in his witness when he said Number one in my life is Jesus Christ. Number two in my life is my family. Number three is my finances. Number four is my fitness. And number five is Franklin Life Insurance. But as I watched the relationship he had with is wife I wanted it. When I saw the love he had for his children I needed it. He used to invite me to Church and on Monday he would always say " I didn't see you in church." I wanted to say "That is because I wasn't there you idiot." But I just said it in my mind. But he had planted the name and made his point. I was on an appointment delivering the policy I had sold. In the kitchen I could hear her roommates talking about the very same church Joe had mentioned. As a single guy you always pay attention when two beautiful girls are speaking. On the way out I heard them saying that they were going to go. I wheeled around on the way out and said " Are you talking about Maranatha Bible Church? I have heard good things about that church. If you go I will go." Well come on now. They were a little cutter than Joe. That Sunday we all gathered in the pew. I made sure I found Joe and he could see that I went. I never missed a Sunday from that point forward. Months later I heard from his wife that they had been praying for me for months. So is there someone in your life that you can plant a seed? Are you standing on the promises behind closed doors and lifting their name to Christ? Can you plant a seed about your church and let them know they are missing out? I heard a voice deep in the night and thought that might be you. But you had left me by myself to do what I must do. Alone I stood all by myself. With anxious, lonely heart. Somehow you knew to leave me there as I begged you not to part. It's time you said for me to find the answers in my soul. For I can't do it justice. The hurt has gained control.
