And He said, "Thus says the Lord, 'Make this valley full of trenches.' For thus says the Lord, 'You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, both you and your cattle and your beasts.2 Kings3:16,17
Did You get that? No less than three armies were famished for lack of water. These prophetic words from the prophet declared how God's hand would move in this situation. Pushed to the human limit, helpless to the point of surrender God moved. Out came the shovels and the trenches were dug as far as the eye could see. All across the valley more than enough was sent in devine provision.
The Lord will give you an abundance of good. Deut. 28:11. Abundance. An over flowing of blessings. More than we will ever need or know what to do with. Not just adequate or just enough but a plentiful supply.
Fellow Christians these good things may mean greater usefulness, spiritual renewal or a deep understanding to what it means to enter into the kingdom of God.
How does that sound when you look at your finances and you have just enough money to buy gas until next payday? And how does that sound when the electric company drives up your driveway to turn off service? God is not limited to our humaness. When He chooses he moves in ways we will never understand. Our gifts of wisdom, knowledge and rhetoric pale before Him.
So I ask you, How deep are your trenches? Have you dug your trench with a spade or the bucket of a bobcat? Are they plentiful or one in number?
Are your eyes fixed on the empty trench or do you envision His blessing even before they have fallen from His hand? God can and God will provide abundantly but first comes our part. Trust God every waking moment with complete unending belief in the savior of the world.
Father,
as I speak these words
I have written them for me.
For I have been a man with doubts.
Blind and could not see.
Help me Lord to understand
the power in just your name.
With a complete unending acceptance
my life will never be the same.
