For lack of wood the fire goes out. And where there is no whisper, contention quiets down. Proverbs 26:20
With two teenage boys in the house it sometimes feels like a war zone.raging emotions, veins flowing with hurts, anger and disappointment are often the picture I get to look at. This Proverbs tells me it is not my business to stir up, provoke a child.
My ex-wife never understood this. Her Jamaican blood didn't flow that way. She once told my 12 year old that was adopted, " We don't want you anymore. You're own birth mother didn't want you?" Can you imagine the impact of those cutting words on his little heart.
Proverbs 26:20 says to not even whisper. To be quiet is more effective tan words that hurt and cut. So often times I bite my tongue. My boys consider me weak or a wimp but that's O.K. They will have a brain someday. Until they do I am going to do it God's way.
Say not a word, be not disturbed,
I am the God of all creation.
Say not a word, be not disturbed
Just come to me in adoration.
Hold out your and, your just a man,
I am the God of all creation.
I know the end, do not contend,
I am the God of all the nations.
Be still,
Oh be still.
