I do not ask thee to keep them out of the world but to keep them from the evil one. John 17:15
This week I noticed that one of my favorite bands was performing. I love this band because of their energy. The lead singer is about 58 years old and he still brings it every night. I am amazed by the energy and love for what he does.
At first I wasn't going to go as it was already 10:00 P.M. It became a tug of war in my mind. But something was pulling me up there. I walked in and of course the place was packed out. So I found a place right in front up at the bar.
Within minutes I saw him. This guy was already pretty well lit up. The place was packed and there was no other place to stand but next to him. He quickly placed his hand on my back as if to say "get out of here." I gave him some space and then I just observed. He was on a mission that night. It was evident and obvious. As he continued to pound the drinks down I heard him say under his breath " Somebody is going to pay tonight. Somebody is going to get hurt. I am going to have some fun."
Now, I am not the biggest guy in the world. But that really got my attention. I felt for some reason that God had me there for a specific purpose. Then I heard him say to another guy, "Hey move out of my way. You are in my flow. I can't pick up chicks and work my magic if you are in the way. Move now."
Basically what he was doing was clearing the way so that any woman that came to get a drink would have to come by him. I now was intent to mess up his game. He made me sick.
I moved across the bar and just watched is every move. His back was to me so he had no clue that I was intently fixed on him. As each woman came to the bar he would start out with a gentle tap to get their attention. What ever he continued to say the women would recoil from his repulsive comments.
Then came three girls. You could tell they were close friends. He began to work them exclusively. Two of them were tuned into his pick up game but one of them was naive. You could tell they were getting nervous for their friend because she kept talking to him. I sat on the other side of the bar and started praying for her. This guy was evil and I knew it.
When the two girls made their escape from him I prayed that the other would follow . As they walked by I felt led warn them about this guy. I blurted out "This guy is trouble. Stay away." Then they proceeded to say some pretty rough stuff that he had said to them.
I continued in my prayer mode. And then it happened. Like a swift night that fills the room he was gone. I stayed a little longer because I could not believe that he left in such abruptness. But he was gone. Wow! I never knew that God would use me that night, but I believe He did.
The waves were crashing round me
as I settled into prayer.
I said out loud to the enemy,
"I dare you I dare."
For I have all that I could need
to fight this good old fight.
I walk with Jesus.
I walk in His light.
Then the battle quickly started
as he tried to take me down.
I pushed him out with scriptures
as he fell down on the ground.
I claimed the name of Jesus Christ
as I shouted it on high.
Satan left defeated
with a deep madding cry .
