Be Honest

Be honest. What gets you excited? What makes your heart jump right out of your skin? Would a day with Tiger Woods do it? Would a free day of shopping at the Mall of America bring a smile? Or the car you have always dreamed of? Believe me there are many that would love to walk in those shoes.

Unfortunately, how many of the Christians in our world would say "there is only one thing in this world that excites me like no other and that is knowing Jesus Christ intimately." I have had the pleasures of this world. I have had the number one sales plaques hanging on my wall. I have had the Mercedes in the driveway. I live in a $800,00 house but that is not what brings joy. God says that none of these wordily possessions should make our heart race any faster than knowing Him. Nothing should rise to a higher importance that seeking Him.

Yet, I have worked in business environments that promoted the mentality of being all you can be. Success can confuse the mind. We chase all the wrong things and for what at the end of our lives? When we put our job and attaining things above Christ our lives spiral out of control. Our balance is shifted and we can so easily become worldly to the point of failure.

When our job and our career becomes the headship of our world then falling and failing is not far behind. Our self centerdness and our desire to have fun swallows us up and erodes our relationship with Christ. Our family, our children and our Father become secondary choices to what we are seeking to bring happiness.

So I ask again. Does God excite you? Are you seeking to have an intimate, passionate relationship with Him. Does just His name bring you to the obedience of tears? Remember the excitement when you first came to Him? Let Him capture you again. Be honest and then give Him the time to bring you back home.

Father, all the things I had attained
seemed right at just that time.
The world called my name.
But now it seems a crime.

As age has come upon me
and wisdom at my door,
I fall down on my knees
right here on the floor.

I ask for Your forgiveness.
Wash me of my sin.
Cleanse me of such foolishness
and let me start again.
