And who soever was not found in the book of life was cast into the book of fire. Rev20:15
The other night I was awakened at 3:00 A.M by a noise in my kitchen.I kept hearing clanging and clanking and I was not sure what was gong on. I walked out to a roommate that was on a mission. He had the oven completely torn apart and was cleaning every crevice of it. He had mentioned that while wiping something up he discovered the oven was one step away from a house fire. His quick actions may have avoided a tradgedy.
We have all looked tradgedy in the eyes. At ten years old a tornado touched down in Minnesota and ripped my neighbors from thier home. I awoke to find his skull crushed by a pontoon boat and his leg hanging from a tree. Some tradgedies can be avoided. If only the work-a-holic husband had taken time to get his heart checked. If only the furnace had been serviced, the co2 monitor installed. If only the drunk driver would have taken a cab.
There is another tragedy that awaits many that walk right beside us. It is the walking tradgedy of the lost. This is the tradgedy of their souls cast into the lake of fire. The believer does not have to spend much time thinking of this. Or does he? Just because our names are written in the book do we stop thinking of the reality of seperation from Christ? Should we not anguish for thier punishment and does that not compel you to open your mouth and speak? Is your heart so far removed from this pain that it does not compel you to get off the Face Book addiction and pray, gain knowledge and find compassion for the lost?
To be lost in Hell the Hebrew word in the Old Testament is olam which means eternal. The Greek word in the New testament is aei meaning always. Our family and our friends will face endless punishment. They will be in a state of everlasting burning. Isaiah 33:14, shalll never see light Psalm 49:19. I believe if the sinner were to know of Hell before he got there he would repent.
The other day I saw a catipillar on the ground slowly making his way up my driveway. I thought how foolish of me if I were to pick it up and explain" One day you will fly. One day you will be a beautiful butterfly. You will not be crawling around on the ground but you will have wings to float where you choose. You will be re-born, regenerated."
When we see the lost may we see with spiritual eyes. The sinner set free. A new creation in Christ. A walking miracle.
One Day
One day the lost shall be found
And up from the ground
They shall fly.
The old heart lost
Transformed and transfixed
The old self slaughtered to die.
A miracle in waiting
The sinner starts stating,
" I was blind but now I can see."
My Father, my Savior
My first love, my last
I will never be a tradgedy.
