Let those who love the Lord hate evil. Psalm 97:10
When I was a young, dumb and stupid teenager I was foolish enough to indulge in a bottle of Southern Comfort and to this day I can't stand the spell. Memories of my foolish ways invade my mind and send off warning lights to stay away.
Evil should operate the same way. The closer we are to Christ the further we want to be from evil. The more our thoughts dwell on the Savior the less our hearts want to entertain evil. Evil becomes like the most bitter food we have ever tasted. We should want to immediately spit it out. It becomes the hot pepper that we want relief from.
If you find your reaction is not as such then it is time to self analyze. Be accountable to the cross and to Jesus. What ever is bringing distress and discomfort may be labelled evil. Remember, it is the unregenerate that embraces evil.
Those that have confessed the precious name of Jesus must guard against unbelief, their thoughts, their deeds and their heart. Anything less is called a hypocrite and stains the cross.
Father,
Turn my eyes from evil
and all my thoughts too.
Make them pure as the driven snow
Just like You.
Protect me from the evil one
And guard my every breath.
Do this every moment Lord
Til the day of my death.
