Silly Of Me

Since it has been a long time that I have had a vacation I find my mind is longing to get away. With carrying the full burden of the household I find myself exhausted with the simple things of life. I can actually sense a drying up of my passion for Christ.

Between the car problems, the kid problems and just the daily battles of life I find it is my heart that needs repair. I tell myself that if I was to just go away for a trip and rest my head on the sandy beaches of Jamaica I will find that passion again.

I long for the simple days of watching fireflies write my name in the darkness. I wish to see the trees wave at me as I am sure they used to do. I want to hear the birds sing a song that was written just for me.

How silly of me to think that I have to go half way across the world to find those things. I am blessed to live in the country with birds that sing everyday. Fireflies light my 750 foot driveway as if to say follow me.

As the heart is the window to the soul all I have to do is open it up. I must remember that we cannot compartmentalize God. We cannot put God on our time table. We must not turn the presence of God on and off. For God is always and forever.

How foolish of me to think that I have to go anywhere or do anything to have God. The simplicity of Christ is that we are here to glorify God and not for God to glorify us. In reality, if I sit back and wait for God to bring the glory then I can't be actively glorifying Him.

Just give me the simple things in life.
Not the grand and the grandiose.
Just give me the simple things in life
for that is what I shall boast.

Please search my heart Oh precious Lord
and always help me see,
When all is said and all is done
it is just about You and me.
