many of us were willing hearted Ex 35:22
If you are like me you sometimes wonder what was the origin of words and phrases. Take for example "tying the knot." This phrase in it's original form had to do with the beds of days gone by. Early Americans had to tighten their beds down by cinching up the rope when they got married.
I don't know about you but this speaks volumes to me. I often wake up with an " I can do this myself "attitude. I like my freedom and independence. I admit to my renegade tendencies. To follow or precede behind somebody is difficult for me.
But, that is precisely what God wants us to do. He wants us to tighten our grip and cinch up our relationship with Him and Him first. It is something that is commanded of us. It brings rewards and it is the foundation of the covenant.
So what window are you looking out of? Are you coming to Christ with the mentality that He is the only one that you will let have that power over you.? Or are you like me with a stubborn independent attitude?
The other side of surrender is a beautiful site. Like the bucking bronco we no longer live in the wilderness. When we answer God's calling in our lives, we are transformed, sanctified and regenerated by Jesus Christ. Our daily lives become wrapped in prayer and we travel right up to Heaven to visit our Lord.
I find now that my true joy comes in surrender. When I announce to Christ that He is the only one I want to be bound to my feet are set straight and my heart over flows with love. True freedom lies in being set free in Christ to reach for goals I thought were beyond my limits and achieving them only in Jesus name.
Are your knots tied down
as tight as can be?
Or are you fighting each day
to simple run free?
Are your feet running hard
to get away?
Or
are you simply at peace
to trust Him today.
Just tighten that knot.
And cinch up that rope.
Cling to my Jesus
the deliverer of hope.
